Name: SuperTooth HD

What it is: A Bluetooth speakerphone with noise-cancellation technology, voice-activated features, two speakers with 5-watt audio output and a 5.4-watt amplifier for clear hands-free calls. SuperTooth HD is designed to keep your eyes on the road. The SuperTooth hands-free assistant feature, powered by Dial2Do, lets you compose and send text messages, emails or Facebook or Twitter updates via voice. For Android and BlackBerry users, the assistant also reads incoming SMS and emails.

The good: The Bluetooth pairing was a piece of cake (and that's not always the case). This is the first Bluetooth speakerphone that I've tested where callers don't demand I call back when I can hold the phone to my ear. I began using it in my home as a desktop speakerphone because it worked so well in my car. The voice-activated dialing works well, and I like being able to ask it to list voice commands.

The bad: I prefer my iPhone's speaker to the SuperTooth HD for listening to music. The hands-free assistant doesn't understand me as well as Siri does on the iPhone 4S, so I didn't use it much. Until the assistant reads emails or texts for iPhone users, I'd rather rely on Siri, because the service requires a monthly or annual subscription. (The first six months are free for basic service and $39.99 a year thereafter.)
