Zantel Expects to Rope in Six Million Subscribers - AllAfrica.com

ZANTEL expects to rope in six million customers on Tanzania Mainland in the next two years, the company has said. The company's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr Ali Bin Jarsh told the 'Daily News' in Dar es Salaam on Sunday that the progress will earn Zantel a 20 per cent market share.

He said the company is looking for business growth since it effectively started to compete for the Tanzania Mainland market in the last few years. He said so far, ZANTEL has already invested over 150 million US Dollars (about 175bn/-) in its business on the Mainland alone and is currently in the process of working in partnership with other operators to ensure its services covers the whole country.

"Currently, we have a 7 per cent market share but this is not enough. We have charted out strategies to make sure we narrow the gap with other competitors in the market," he said. He was speaking during the event where Zantel announced new offer dubbed "Epiq Moto" whereby its customers will be able to call any network for 1/- per second per day and make free calls from Zantel to Zantel from 12 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Announcing the promotion, the Company's Chief Commercial Officer and Senior Vice President of Etisalat Group, Mr Ahmed Mokhles said the offer was designed to offer maximum value over voice, data and SMS and reducing prices of making calls.

"Apart from free calls and reduced tariffs in SMS, we are now offering free 50MB for internet users in a move that aims to taking the telecom industry to a new level," he said.

He said Epiq Motto will now start targeting youths more through the newly launched Zantel Epiq Bongo Star Search which showcases music talents. He said the promotion starts on June 15 this year in Dodoma where callers will be able to communicate freely.
