Anti-hacker 'app' offers added security

LAKE MARY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Worried about someone ease dropping on your cell phone calls? Then try out a new mobile application called Kryptos.

"It enables you to have conversations that are free from being intercepted by anybody," said Stephen Carnes, president of Kryptos Communications Inc.

He developed the application to protect your privacy from hackers or even investigators, "that encrypts the conversation before its transmitted to the receiver. It's a proprietary method we use. It's a 256 bit AES encryption; it's the same thing the military uses."

Those who own iPhones can easily find Kryptos.

"Go to an 'app' store and download it for a free 30 day trial."

Eventually it will cost $4.99 a month, but that includes free long distance. "Whether the user is in Istanbul, Russia, China, there's no long distance changes involved."

Stephen said the response to Kryptos has been out of this world. "We've been out for three weeks and downloaded in 59 countries."

Eventually, he hopes businesses will use it, to protect customers credit card numbers during transactions. "We're getting a fabulous response, its very exciting."

Right now, Kryptos is only available on iPhones, but Stephen plans to have it ready for the Droid and Blackberry by the end of January. The apps will be free for the next 3 months. Go to www.kryptos411.com for more information.
