All phone calls to LaPorte Police, emergency and non-emergency, are now being answered by the LaPorte County 911 Center. That's one of the changes in the LaPorte City Police Department in the wake of budget constraints.

City residents needing emergency help should continue to call 911. Non-emergency calls, when a police response is required, call 362-6205.

Other changes at the LaPorte City Police Department include:

  • Lobby hours are 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Copies of reports and other materials are available, during lobby hours, from the department's record division.
  • Need to talk to records division staff, detective bureau or administration? Call the police station at 362-6205 and follow voice mail prompts to leave messages.
  • Need to talk to a police officer (in a non-emergency situation)? Call the police station at 362-6205 and then when asked for an extension, dial 0 for the general delivery voice mailbox. Leave a message with name and phone number. The mailbox is regularly checked by on-duty supervisors.
